WHO WE ARE
Maine Affordable Housing Coalition (MAHC) is a statewide nonprofit organization that advocates for the creation and preservation of affordable housing so all people in Maine have a place to call home.
OVERVIEW
MAHC is a member-based organization that includes over 140 organizational members and several thousand individual members. As a coalition, we advocate for state-level policies and practices that lead to increased supply of housing. Our advocacy is grounded in research and data, some of which we commission directly, as featured on our Knowledge webpage.
On the federal level, MAHC is Maine’s lead agency for the New England Housing Network, a coalition of housing and community development organizations that provide a regional response to changes in federal housing policy. We are also members of Welcoming Neighbors Network, and Up For Growth, and serve as the National Low Income Housing Coalition’s state coalition partner for Maine.
MEMBERSHIP
MAHC is sustained by its dues paying coalition members that span the breadth of organizations involved in planning, designing, developing, financing, building, insuring, and managing housing developments. Any organization involved in housing development is welcome to join us at any time.
